Changing/Extending Status in the United States

Once a person is in the United States on any valid, nonimmigrant status, they may consider changing their status or extending it without needing to travel abroad. This option is only available if the person has an unexpired I-94 or is within one of the short grace periods that allows them to stay past the I-94 expiration date.

Applications for changing or extending status are not available for premium processing, and there may be significant processing delays that can impact ability to travel and authorization for work in the U.S. Applicants should carefully weigh their options before deciding to file an application.

If you are currently in the United States and wish to change to a different visa status or extend your stay, please contact us to schedule a consultation.
