Employment Authorization Document

Commonly called an “EAD Card”, the work permit allows certain foreign nationals who are eligible to work in the United States the ability to work in the United States. Eligible foreign nationals include, but are not limited to, applicants for adjustment of status to permanent residency, spouses of L-1 nonimmigrants, certain spouses of H-1B nonimmigrants, or refugees and asylees. The application for employment authorization (Form I-765) is often filed along with adjustment of status petitions for individuals present in the United States and eligible for legal permanent residence.
