What does EB-1A stand for?

A First Preference Employment-Based Petition submitted by the foreign national him/herself and who has extraordinary ability in the sciences, arts, education, business, or athletics which has been demonstrated by sustained national or international acclaim and whose achievements have been recognized in the field through extensive documentation is referred to as EB-1A Classification. Approved beneficiaries of this classification are eligible to apply for permanent residence in the United States and are among the top 5% of experts in their respective fields.
